The Abstinence for Singles - My Awakening and Decision to Wait


NOT everybody is doing it. The percentage of high school males who have ever had sex declined from 57% in 1991 to 48% in 2003. The proportion of high school girls who reported having sex decreased from 51% in 1991 to 45% in 2001.	ACHIEVEMENT AND ACTION PLAN The challenges of sexual intercourse that many youth face today are more difficult that those of the baby-boomers, and previous generations through negative outside influences. In order to communicate with youth effectively, Mr. Washington will present his abstinence message on a level that young people understand. He uses new and innovative ways to promo te abstinence education. Mr. Washington will inform youth that not only can sexual activity cause pregnancy out-of-wedlock, sexually transmitted diseases, and other associated health problems, but also can produce additional issues relating to crime, lack of education, unemployment, and economics. Male and Female Responsibilities The seminars will focus on the breakdown of communication between males and females, and what can be done to bridge the gap. Exercises will be introduced that will help youth understand what each gender group is going through. We must create ways to begin a positive communication process between males and females. Benefits of Abstinence The groups will discuss and examine the benefits of waiting to have sex until marriage. There will also be a focus on the choices and consequences concerning our decisions, and how those choices can affect the rest of our lives. Building Friendships with the Opposite Sex The discussions will focus on how engaging in positive non-romantic friendships will help you better understand the opposite sex. These types of friendships will help bridge the communication gap between males and females. We will discuss ways in which we can serve others, not look at our own desires, and how abstinence is the best way to help you pick a future mate. Pregnant with Potential, Give Birth to Your Dreams The training will explain that in order to become the fathers, mothers, husbands, and wives we need to be, our journey begins while living the single life. We will also discuss how health, education, employment, and economics help us prepare to live our dreams. It is vitally important to understand that if we are not happy with ourselves, nobody else can make us happy. Abstinence Supporters Abstinence supporters include Indiana Legislators State Senator Sam Smith and State Representative Charlie Brown, who is also Chairman of the Health Committee in the House of Representatives.
